I hope Ron won't mind me starting this topic, and just in case, I've got my Kevlar 9-SX combo flame retardant bomb and bullet proof suit on. Big Grin

Today, at work, one of my co-workers wished all of us a "Happy Loaded Dice Day". Thinking she had been nipping the nitrous again, I just ignored her. Later, she informed us that August was "National Catfish Month". Man,(I thought) she's really got a head full of useless carp...I mean cra...well, you get the picture. Roll Eyes

So tonight, while I was waiting for the electrician to show up(for the sixth time, soon to be 7th) and install a 20 amp circuit breaker, I thought I'd do a little investigating, and came up with tons of ridiculous and not-so-ridiculous daily/weekly events that are honored from around the world on today's date.

Since we've already done world history for a full year, I thought we might try this????

*ducks from Ron's 44 magnum aim*

Phew! that was close. Tomato

So......I guess I'll start off by telling you all that today is National Loaded Dice Day! wooo hooo

Oh, and here's a few others for
August 15th

National Relaxation Day
National Failures Day

And (don't get too excited now)....
Great American Tomato Canning Day (an actual tournament is being held while I type, and I am missing it!) Angry

This week in August is:

Don't Wait - Celebrate Week
Elvis Week
International Festival Week
National Apple Week
National Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist Week
National Psychiatric Technician Week
National Recreational Scuba Diving Week
National Smile Week

Smiler <======= See? I'm smiling!

The month of August is also:

Foot Health Month
and
National Water Quality Month
(which makes the catfish very happy!)

My condolences to Ron for being such a lousy aim. Big Grin

Dearest Pam...I don't miss!

Just as an aside: This week is also International "Pork Week".

Now as many of you know; I consider pigs to be vile, foul, disgusting creatures not fit to inhabit the face of God's green Earth...so I'm sure that you will understand why I was out blasting those low-life degenerate swine to Valhalla with my large bore hand cannon (acquired from a US Marshall named McGreggor or something similar) and not shooting at any Worddistillery administrators.

Hmmm, I wonder when it's going to be "Cat Week"...? (Reloads)

August 16th is also Tell A Joke Day, but since I don't know any that would pass muster on our family-oriented site, I guess I'll have to leave it to someone else.

Can someone warn me in advance when it's National Grits Day? Perhaps, it is international....

Ron: >>Hmmm, I wonder when it's going to be "Cat Week"...? (Reloads)<< Worm

Pam: >>Oh, and you'll have to wait until October 16th for National Cat Day. <<

Uh...geeeeeshhh I think I’m away that week. Big Grin Isn’t the last two weeks of October “Cat Sanctuary Days and The Independent Thinkers Gathering”…a time to finally clean out the old litter box and share a pound of catnip with the elusive little bugger…kind of a getting back to basics if you know what I mean.

Actually today is Bratwurst Day…pass the sausage please!

I thought we'd missed "National Blame It On Someone Else Day" back on August 13th...but then I realized our politicians have been doing it every day since Methusala was just a lad....*sigh*

Console

August 18th is also National Watermelon Day

Now if I could only find a personal chef to whip up some potatoes and watermelon while reciting bad poetry, my day will be complete. Thumbs

August 21st......

We have tons of celebrating to do since today is:
Hawaii Day, Southern Hemisphere Hoodie-Hoo Day, Good Roads Day, and National Spumoni Day

But the two I think are the ones most deserving of a party are Distilled Water Day and Poetry Day! Just what are the chances of that?
