There was a major power outage at Infopop's communications center due to a worker accidentally cutting a power cable. All infopop sites were down for quite some time on 1-14-05 from about 7:30PM EST until just now.

Infopop is having to re-boot each site's servers and they are also checking to make sure that there was no damage done during this outage. Although I am able to access the site at the moment, it is CRAWLING! Pages are very slow to load and logging in was difficult. Infopop assures us that everything will be up to speed as soon as possible.

The site may be running slow for some time yet and accessing the pages could be hit or miss, but they are working on the problem as I type.

Once again (I sound like a broken record) we thank you for your patience.

Help

Yeah, several boards I'm registered on went down simulataneously. Good thing there was a hockey game on TV last night.

Yep, good thing, JR! That Stanley Cup is ours, I tell ya! Thumbs

I notice that the site is still crawling this morning, if even that. I baked a loaf of bread, did a load of laundry and re-roofed the house in the time it took for the log in page to load. As a result, I have placed a trouble ticket to infopop to see if this isn't related to the power outage from yesterday, plus I now have a new roof. Big Grin

All the infopop sites are running extremely slowly. As for the Stanley Cup, no one wins it this year, or maybe not next year either.

This is the latest from infopop:

Hello Pam:

At this point the servers and sites are *technically* up. But there is another issue that has cropped up within the last few hours. Sites are generally experiencing some extreme slowness, causing the site to possibly time out.

We're looking into the issue currently and hope to have it resolved soon.

Sorry for the inconvenience and I will update as soon as I have more information.

Thanks,

Chris Harris

It seems as if once infopop got all their sites up and running again, there was one server that decided to quit all together last night and of course it was our server! Diablo I spent most of the evening going back and forth with the techs at infopop testing the access ability and posting ability of the site, and with the hard work of their technical staff, we are finally back on line. I have been in contact with several of infopop's technicians and support representitives, but actually received a very nice reply from the CEO of infopop himself and thought I would share it with you.

Hi Pam-

I just wanted to follow up on Chris' post above.

We FINALLY resolved all issues tonight. Just about all of our sites experienced extreme slowness today due to some misconfigurations that seemed to have developed due to the power outage yesterday. It took us all day to get things back to normal unfortunately.

We're sorry that we let you down today.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding!

Take care,

Ted O'Neill
