Like all new things, there are the occasional bugs and unexpected snafu's that find their way in to make things a bit more challenging. Unfortunately the log in process seems to be what is the current issue at Word Distillery.

Info pop has introduced this new system so that members who belong to more than one info pop supported site can log on with the same password each time. The only problem with this, is that when the Groupee server is down, members can not access sites. And from what we are seeing, this server is down quite frequently.

Info pop "deployed" (their exact words) some updates to their system yesterday, and our site was hit with major log in and member recognitions problems. We are info pop's newest account, and of course, the updates were designed for sites running on the older Eve platform, and ones that are not supported by Groupee.

What I think they failed to mention, was the artillery they deployed, as it did some major damage to the registration of members.

Info pop's support team worked through the night to correct this issue, and as frustrating as it was, they were just as baffled as we were.

I have put in several complaint tickets with both Info pop and Groupee letting them know that we are concerned with the amount of problems we have experienced in such a short time. They have assured us that they are working to correct these issues.

We apologize to anyone who has had difficulties logging on to our site, and we ask that you bear with us (info pop) while they work to correct these issues.

In the meantime....... if you can not log on and are asked to re-register. DON"T DO IT!!!. Galatea, and I learned the hard way! Eeker

The updated registration will then become your only registration recognized by Groupee and you will no longer be your original member. Roll Eyes

Once again, we are sorry for the inconvenience. I'm sure the bugs will all be ironed out soon!

I think that everyone should know that La J was up until it was time to get up and go to work (fortunately she was off today) working with InfoPop in getting the bugs exterminated from the system. It still isn't as smooth as we'd like to see it but we can get on the site and post. That's due to her supreme effort during the night. We owe you La J!

I have just been in contact with the customer support manager at Info Pop. We have requested (demanded Mad) that the Groupee log in system be removed from our site due to the problems it has caused.
Info pop is more than willing to do this for us.

Eventually the site will go back to this system as all of the Info pop sites will switch over at some point, but for now we wish to have it removed until they can guarantee that these issues have been resolved.

There may be a problem with members who have joined the site since they deployed the latest update, and I will be letting them know who these members are so that they can correct their log in abilities.

The switch should be taking place sometime today. You will log on to the site by using your user name and the same password as you did for Groupee. ( Just like you signed on to WP)

Once again we are sorry for the inconvenience that this has caused, and we thank you for being so patient and hanging in there. You guys are the best! Smiler

I know I myself am looking forward to bidding a fond "good riddance" to Groupee!

*steps out of the boxing ring and declares " SO THERE!"*

Update:
Well folks it looks like we actually had our first day wothout any log in issues *crosses fingers, spins around twice, and spits*

I guess we are going to give Groupee another shot as Info pop has not gotten back with us regarding its removal.

As mad as we all were yesterday and the day before and the day before that, I guess it is only fair to to give it one last shot if there are no more problems.

So everybody, all together now: cross your fingers, spin around twice and spit!

That oughta' do it! Wink

Update- Some recent issues with certain members having difficulties either accessing the site, forum functions not working properly, or page displays not being correct, have prompted me to start a trouble ticket frenzy. I have spent a great deal of time in contact with info pop support techs and just now received the latest and greatest information regarding these issues.

First of all, Word Distillery is run by Info Pop, and our forum is an EVE UBB.x supported forum. This type of discussion forum format is fairly new ( so many f's! Roll Eyes), and works a little differently than some of the other discussion forums members might frequent.

In order for our site to function properly for all users, it is very important that they are running the most recent updated versions of their inter net browsers. Whether it is Mozilla, Internet Explorer, or Netscape, it is advized that members run the updated versions of those browsers. If you are running an older version, some of the forum's functions may not work, and logging in may also be difficult. It is also been noted that AOL browsers are the absolute worst for viewing UBB.x sites and experience the most problems. Info pop's advice?
Don't use AOL as your browser!

Info pop suggests the following browsers, as these are the ones which seem to work with no problems what so ever:

I.E. 6.0
Download

Mozilla Firefox

Download

Netscape 7.1

Download

Instant notification issues
Another issue which has recently come to my attention is the fact that some members are not receiving their instant notifications via e mail. You need to check your e mail spam filters, and make sure that you allow mail from Word Distillery. For some reason several e mail programs are recognizing mail from WD as spam.

I wish to make note, when not logged in, you cannot view this forum's "sticky note" messages (I tried during my whole log in issue), it might be wise to post this thred elsewhere where people can find it and see it before they do something like create a new log on or something.

Just a thought,

HAVE A NICE DAY!

For those of you experiencing difficulties logging on to the site: Groupee has not been functioning properly for the last three days. Mad

I was assured last night that things were fixed for good, but obviously not! Mad

Hang in there folks! I know this is frustrating. We would do away with Groupee all together if we could be assured that members would not be lost in the transition. Since they can not promise us this, we are not willing to take that chance.

All I can say is that they are aware of the problem, and they know that we are not too pleased with them at the moment. They have techs specifically working on just our site to assure us that this won't happen again.
(seems I've heard this before somewhere....)

In the meantime, members may want to select the "remember me for Word Distillery" option when they do log in. Also...when you leave the site, do NOT log off. Don't worry, you won't show as being on line 24 hours a day as long as you do not have the front page displayed. This way, if Groupee is down, you will automatically be logged in each time.

We, at Word Distillery, apologize to those of you who have been as frustrated as I have these past few days.

"Keep your fingers crossed", is all I can say!

I saw you, too!
She was; she accessed the site. Take note, Pam!

I saw a Dragon.
"Where?"
There, on the site.
"Where on the site?"
Right there! A little Dragon with fire-breath...
"Well, I declare!"
...going clip, clippety-clop on the site.
"All right!"

What do Dragons eat for breakfast?

That is a question, not part of a joke.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!

He's British! Big Grin

Glad to see you flyin' around the site again, Dragon. You've been missed. Wink

And to explain your difficulties accessing the site, apparently Infopop is having a problem with a servlet. Which must be like a tiny server??? All I know is that there are a dozen or so Infopop sites which run off of the same serv....er..let, and when it updates in the wee hours of the morning, it somehow does not re-connect the sites it supports. And wouldn't you know....our site is one of the ones affected.
Of Course! I spent the better part of the weekend filling out more trouble tickets ( I'm gettin' so good at those! Big Grin) And have been assured by the higher-ups ( I like to call them info-poopers) that this issue was resolved.
Actually, the technicians at infopop are extremely prompt in their response time and generally resolve these issues within a very short time of becoming aware of them. They really have been wonderful to work with and I am impressed with their support system, just not the bugs that are crawling around in it.
I'm so glad we have sacrificed our site, or how else would they know how to fix so many problems????? upset

Once again.....keep your fingers crossed! Thumbs
