So, a certain flying bug and a flying dragon met for a chat and decided it should be more wide spread. What say you to a Word Distillery convention???? Well not so much a convention as a one day meeting of the core folk. I (and that bug) will happily do the planning etc., but we need to know if there is any (enough) interest. Reply your thoughts as replies to this topic. P.S. I would expect the owners, administrators, old-timers, etc. to be there...else, why bother?

This idea was kicked around on another site I used to contribute to. Problems of where and when always came up. Just out of curiosity, have any people here met each other in person?

Well, now, if we did it mid-country to make it sort of equidistant, Missouri might be a good spot...we can all meet at Jack's place, right Jack? Of course we do have a few overseas members...

Seriously, as I have never flown (yeah, yeah, I know...and Doug will confirm I'm one of the 12 US residents left without a cell phone! ) So...as I was saying, as I have never flown, ya'll could head out East to the grand state of Massachusetts! Otherwise I'll be paying for a second ticket for someone to come along and drag me onto the plane! haha

Doug had a fully packed schedule so we had only half an hour allotted to us. We met at a Panera's and sat outside on the little covered patio. The weather accomodated us, after torrential downpours for about 2 weeks straight.

The WHEN part is probably a bigger problem than the WHERE part. Most likely a weekend.

Since all but a few holdouts have posted photos of themselves, we wouldn't totally shock each other when we actually met. I know many had said when we first posted photos that they had pictured the person entirely differently.

Well...this may never come about, but it is fun to at least think about!

Come on people, let's think positive and just find out how many people would be willing to drop a few bucks to meet the rest of us misfits! Life is too short to live in the dark.

I think it’s a great idea count me in. Time and place is no problem. I would be more than happy to host of the first annual jamboree of word worms. My place is easy to find, west on I-70 from the airport. Takes about 40 mi.

I'm not sure where the other admins are -- as most of you are aware, I've been out of touch for a while. Helle, I've been out of touch for far too long due to health problems that seem to get worse despite modern medicine. For the past year, my life has been confined to work and home. For someone who isn't used to having physical limits, it's really demoralizing and I'm trying to resist the temptation to crawl into my own belly button and pout. So far I haven't indulged, although there have been a few isolated tears when I was alone.

Initially, I wasn't sure that \Doug/ meant a literal group hug. Subsequent posters have cleared that up. There is nothing I'd rather do than meet the whole gang -- or at least as many who are able to get together. I still think flutter took my black backless dress to go with her leopard thong at that last bash down at the still....

Surely not....look at that photo on page 2 "Our Very Own Flutter"...is that not the sweetest little old lady you have ever seen? Would SHE steal a backless black dress?? And wear a thong?? well...on second thought, maybe that expression on her face IS due to a major wedgie...
