HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO WORLD DISTILLERY!!!
Gosh amighty it's hard for me to believe that it's been a year since we officially became a website open for business. Why it seem like just yesterday that my Sister Pam, Keny, jr, Nick, Seamus, Andrew, Ron and I were all down at the still patting ourselves on our backs about how much hard work Pam had done getting this thing up and running. (Of course Ron intermittently discussed the best method for blowing stuff up but that's to be expected.) All of us put our thinking caps on, sipped the squeezins' and dreamed up profound stuff like you see here, that Pam, speaking some language I didn't understand -- I think she said it was "Profane" or something like that -- worked for days and nights non-stop at the keyboard. I've still not figured out why she was so upset -- I mean we dreamed up all this stuff. What's so hard about getting it on the computer? I'd better stop this nonsense or she's gonna start talking that language again! I do want to say to all our members that I've never been among a finer group of people and I've never been privileged to work with a better bunch than those who worked together to make this site a reality. In fact, I think we should have a huge birthday party that lasts at least til Thanksgiving!!! This post has been edited at member's request.Galatea, “Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it.” Mark Twain |

Though I wasn’t here in my scrubs to aid the birthin’ of WD
I can see she’s come through just fine. I never seen so many folks a-fussin’ over her, over 100 is what I count and that’s some wheres around 5 times fingers and toes. Well I got to hitch up old Mule and mosey on down to the still. Just popped by to say Happy birthday WD. Jack |

It doesn't seem like it's been a year already since the site was first up and running. My time here these days isn't as long or as often as I'd like it to be...then again, I've always been guilty of working more hours than I probably should. (Contrary to the opinion of one individual in particular.)
I hope to be able to devote more time, if not writing, in the near future. ... We're here for a good time Not a long time So have a good time The sun can't shine every day ~Trooper |

A year? My, my, how time does fly. There are a LOT of good folks here at WD. I think it is the best site on the web for talented people to post their poems, prose and some things that cannot be so easily catagorized.
I look forward to the coming year. I agree completely with the party idea. I've got a batch of squeezins down at the still that has been aging for a whole 48 hours now. If I hold on to it much longer, it'll start eating away at the containers. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WD!! It must be some strange quantum physical anomally that allowed Word Distillery to beome one year old while, at the same time, I have personally gotten three or four years younger. Of course, it could be because working at the still tends to pickle one's innards. "It's important, when going after a goal, to never lose sight of the integrity of the journey". – Andy Garcia |

my side hurts *I'll be back later for a proper Birthday post, but crooked teeth are waitin' to be aligned. Maybe I should just have our patients drink a little dixie cup filled with some of them squeezins'. I suspect it would straighten anything it came in contact with. *Shuffles off singing Happy Birthday* |

When I was a little 'un my granny used to tell me that as I got older time would pass quicker and I never did believe her or really understand what she meant.... until now!!!! A whole year??? where the helle did that go????? Having said that I have been priviliged to spend that time basking in the warm glow of the various titanic luminaries who frequent this site...Galatea, Wordman, La J., juanruiz, Flutter, lionheart, LWAS, MoMule to name but a few and to all the others whom I haven't named?, it doesn't mean I respect ya any the less!. You have all contribute such amazing stuff to the site to make it what it is. Without you all WD would be, literally, nothing.... I got a couple of cases of Stella Artois and a big tub of Jersey Royal potato salad, honey roast ham and some fresh baked crusty rolls for the party ...what y'all bringing????? Best Regards emeraldcitizen "You mean it was designed to look like this???? |

Ah, yes, EC, time surely does fly faster the older ya' get...take it from an old lady!
On WD's first birthday I'll just reiterate my thanks to all the wonderful people who got this site up and running and kept the "family" together! And I will copy and paste my welcoming thank you poem I posted a year ago: You left the porch light on like a beacon in the night. You lit the guiding light that led us to this site. You worked day and night and night and day for many hard hours so we might write and play. You left the porch light on bringing "family" back home. You brightened many lives and never let us roam. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For the party how about a fresh strawberry pie for dessert? And, EC, just HOW big is that tub of potato salad? If there is any left after I get done, I just thought some of them thar "wild women" that get a little tipsy and carried away at these events, may just end up wrestling in it!! I don't drink, so I'm not included in thar wild antics! I, being the demure one on the site, after all... "Me, my thoughts are flower strewn Ocean storm, bayberry moon. I have got to leave to find my way...." ~~REM |

We may be small and young, but there ain't a site I'd rather be a part of than this one.
I may be tall and old, but if there's a better collection of individuals than there is on Worddistillery.... . Well, there isn't, so there's no point even contemplating it! My very best wishes to every one of you who make up Worddistillery.com. Yeah! If I hadn't seen such riches I could live with being poor. ~James~ |

Stoppin' by to wish Worddistillery a happy 1st birthday. I love the concept of 'distilling', in the cosmic sense. It takes time and patience and intestinal fortitude and when the sediment falls to the bottom of the barrel.... yer left with a fine and heavenly brew! Of course, as any decent Aussie can tell ya...... there's even a use for the crappy sediment. We make vegemite out of it!
...So in honour of this auspicious occasion, I'll raise my vegemite sandwich to you, in toast to your birthday! Cheers you guys! |

Happy, happy birthday to our wonderful WD! And here's hoping for many, many more.

How could WD possibly not be fun when it is a...
GEMINI!!!! Happy B'day! I wasn't here on the b'day, but I remembered it. I can't recall m/any instances where I've seen people snub or discourage each other here, on the contrary I've noticed how the members and especially administrators acknowledge and welcome the new comers. And I wish that the aura of warmth that oozes from WD or rather the people that are WD, never fades away. All that I need for a smile or a chuckle is the memory of the April Fools' trick or my b'day thread or all the times when you guys just gave me those scary team-up-and-bear-hug type compliments. I love the concept of 'distilling', in the cosmic sense. It takes time and patience and intestinal fortitude and when the sediment falls to the bottom of the barrel.... yer left with a fine and heavenly brew! ~Trish Noone could ever say that better, friend. Viva la WDers. |
