Another Jeb and me poem

Christmas cheer
11-17-06

The night before Christmas Jeb and me lay,
wide awake, listing for the sleigh.

We made a pact to catch him this year,
baited the trap with Budweiser Beer.

Grandpa was sleeping watching TV,
snoring like a chainsaw fallin’ a tree.

Jeb fell asleep and I dozed off,
when I hear this scraping above the loft.

From out of the hearth with a toothless smile,
came this jolly old fat guy, incredibly agile

The deer on the roof were pawing to go,
I think they did, from the stains in the snow.

A steel runner sled he took from his sack,
a Lionel train and all of the track.

Tobacco stain drool threads down his chin,
as he grabbed the Bud with a wink and a grin.

I heard him exclaim as he flew out of sight
Remember next year… make mind Miller Lite. santa

Great stuff, Jack!

Ah, I love this one - bait, hook, line and sinker - for its swift movements, surprises, and its big grin. Smiler

A real good piece of Christmas cake it is!

Jane.
I took a tour of Denmark, via public TV, beautiful country.
I really had a good time writing this, I put it in with my Christmas cards.
Glad you got a kick out of it.

Jack,
The recipients of your Christmas cards got a treat, and so did I!

Your talent is boundless!

Ramona,
I don’t know about bondless but I’m going to keep at it until I get it right
or have a brain drain. I have a feeling, which will come first.
You and yours have a Merry Christmas.

You are toooooo much, Jack! What a great way to start my morning -- reading a jc hill poem that makes me laugh.

However....I didn't know until I read your poem that my Uncle Dave was Santa Claus. Wink

Delightful and witty. Definitely brought a smile and a snicker. ~Jim

P.S. - Did you mean to say "..make mind Miller Lite" or "make mine..." ?

Too good Jack -- it needs another year's exposure!
