Seven shafts of carbon armed with titanium,
Death winged in flight—the arrow of the Phantom.
Red Oaks and heart’s blood, buckskin and venison,
Twelve tines of antler--tempered by the autumn.

Phantom Delta, 1999

Ah thank ye very much P.B. Your comment is on target and is perhaps the only comment that I have had on this poem. It was inspired by a 12-point stag that I shot in 1991. I named that buck Timbuktu--The Stag of Sinking Creek. The mount holds the most honored place on my trophy wall. I hunted that buck religiously in the fall of 1990 and missed it twicet. On Thanksgiving Day of 1991 I got lucky. It was one of the happiest days of my life.

Two bad rotators and little hope of getting them 'fixed' have shut me down with my ancient Hoyt, but I certainly perked up in reading your poem! Thanks for sharing.
